The Steeple School of Trinity Church began in 1963 by the people of Trinity Church in Marshfield Hills to try to fulfill a real community need for a kindergarten/nursery school. At that time there was no public kindergarten and only a few private preschools in Marshfield and the surrounding towns.

In the beginning there was one kindergarten and one nursery class, staffed by a teacher and a rotating roster of volunteer assistant teachers, one for each day of the week. The total enrollment was 30 children.

A Board of Directors was established to administer the school, which was located in Johnson Hall. Equipment was either made or donated. By 1969 the present school building with six classrooms was built.

At that time, Steeple School enrolled about 250 children, from three to five years of age. The staff was professional and salaried with a teacher and assistant teacher for each class. Enrollment reached 275 children in 1972, the year before public kindergarten was instituted in Marshfield.

In the years following, one classroom was changed into a specialized room for large motor skill development. A drop-in babysitting program was also established for those who needed occasional child care in the afternoons.

Today Steeple School of Trinity Church continues to provide a quality preschool program for children of Marshfield and surrounding towns. Steeple School enrolls children in three programs: Playgroup, Nursery, and Pre-Kindergarten. It also offers an ExtendedCare Program each afternoon.
